Writing for fun Vs. profit.

Posted by Charles Gray on August 22, 2011

Not in “Should I write to make money” or “Should I have fun writing.”

No, this is about writing fanfic, silly stuff you never expect to get published, or other such “fun” things.

The problem is, now that I’m writing for profit (hopefully), I can’t seem to get the energy for it.  My mind keeps saying: “Wait a minute, I need to use this time for work writing.”

On the other hand, my hindbrain points out “I’m stuck on this point, so why not write something fun rather than banging my head against a wall for three hours.”

What do you think?
